With the arrival of the H1N1 influenza in the Capital Region, the Town has adopted a set of policies and procedures for protecting staff from influenza and for contributing to public health in the community. Although H1N1 has captured the news media headlines, other influenza viruses are also expected in the community with the coming of the normal flu season. Without laboratory testing, it is impossible to distinguish the H1N1 flu from other similar viruses. Therefore, the Town's plan addresses protective measures for all influenza-like illnesses.
