Low tides and warm temperatures are causing an unpleasant odor that can be mistaken for sewage. This is the result of seaweed and algae breaking down and releasing gasses. It is an annual occurrence and smells can linger for 2-3 weeks. Water quality is tested regularly throughout the summer.   

Sidney Street Market

The Sidney Street Market, operated by Kaemac Services, takes place on Beacon Avenue on Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Thousands of people flock to downtown Sidney on market nights to check out unique vendors, enjoy live entertainment, and grab a bite to eat.

The 2026 market season will run from Thursday, June 4th, 2026 to September 10th, 2026 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Free Bike Valet Service

The Town of Sidney partners with Capital Bike to host a free Bike Valet service. Bikes can be dropped up with a staff member who keeps it secure throughout the evening.

The Bike Valet is located at 9813 Fourth Street, and is available every Thursday, 5:30-8:30pm during market nights.

Volunteer at the Sidney Street Market

Volunteers are a critical part of making the Sidney Street Market happen. Shifts run from 3:45 PM to 9:00 PM, and volunteers receive a free food truck dinner. Since 2024, the Sidney Street Market has been managed by Kaemac Event Services, a local event management company founded by Kelly Kurta. Kaemac provides planning, coordination, and on-site delivery of community markets and festivals, including Dockside Nights at Port Sidney Marina, as well as corporate and private events.
