Information for Existing Businesses

The Town of Sidney values each and every business that operates in our unique corner of the world. Our goal is to be as welcoming as possible, with streamlined processes for business owners to keep their information up to date and services running smoothly.

As your business grows and evolves, please keep us up to date on any changes that are relevant to your business licence. Relevant changes include a change in location, business name, or the size/scale of your operation (for example, the number of children for a daycare, or the number of seats in a cafe/restaurant).

There is no fee to update your account. Simply complete the Change of Information web form, and we will update your information and issue a new business licence, if required.

Alternately, you can submit a PDF version of the Change of Information Form by email at licensing@sidney.ca, by mail, or in person at Town Hall.

Once issued, there is no fee to renew most business licences in Sidney. However, submission of a renewal form is required.

In November 2022, Council made business licence renewals free of charge permanently. New businesses will now pay a one-time fee upon initial application. As per Section 4.9 of the Business Licence Bylaw, business licences must be renewed annually by completing the renewal form on or before February 28th of each year.
