Community invited to provide input on updated Strategic Plan
Following strategic planning discussions held in November and February, Council has updated the Town of Sidney’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan.
Strategic planning is a process used to set key priorities for the municipality, above and beyond core operations. The plan is reviewed and updated on an annual basis by Council to monitor success and update priorities as needed.
The updated version of the Strategic Plan has a strong focus on community planning and housing due to recent changes to Provincial housing legislation. The new legislation includes requirements for municipalities to meet milestone dates set by the Province, which require significant staff time. As a result, the number of new initiatives added to the Strategic Plan are more limited than in previous years. Several items have also been removed from the plan as the initiatives have either been completed or are now part of the Town’s ongoing operations.
The updated plan is now available for public review and comment at Sidney.ca. Council will consider giving the updated Strategic Plan final approval on March 11.
