Council awards contract for final phase of improvements to West Side Highway Path

The Town of Sidney will soon be completing upgrades to the West Side Highway Path, widening the path, repaving the surface, and adding lighting between Malaview Avenue West and the McDonald Park Road overpass. Council has given Town staff approval to award a contract for the work to C-1 Contractors Limited, following a competitive process. Path improvements have already been made in recent years to the southern sections of the pathway between Beacon Avenue West and Malaview Avenue West.

The pathway supports active transportation for residents and employees who work in the West Side Industrial Area, as well as youth travelling to middle school and high school on McDonald Park Road. The pathway also connects to a growing commercial centre near the McDonald Park overpass.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
