Council approves residential development with 97 units at 9522 Lochside Drive

Council has approved a residential development with different types of housing options at the current site of Cedarwood Inn and Suites on Lochside Drive. The development reflects land use changes made to the site as a result of community input into the recently updated Official Community Plan, aimed at balancing housing density with building scale. The development will include a three-storey building with 49 apartments and one ground floor commercial space, as well as eight 2.5 storey buildings containing a total of 48 townhouses. As part of the conditions of Council’s approval, the developer will be contributing approximately $167,800 to community park acquisition and improvement.

Council approves formalized outdoor space at Mary’s Bleue Moon Cafe

Council has approved a number of building improvements to Mary’s Bleue Moon Cafe on Canora Drive including an expanded kitchen and a permanent deck with an overhead pergola for the front of the restaurant. Since 2021, the restaurant has had a temporary outdoor seating area; the approved changes will create a formalized outdoor patio space with an accessible ramp at the building entrance. There will continue to be parking for the restaurant in front of the patio, as well as across the street. The proposal aligns with the recently updated Official Community Plan which supports the maintenance of neighbourhood commercial areas that are compatible with their surrounding neighbourhood.
