The Town has a proactive maintenance plan in place for Bevan Fishing Pier. We are currently undertaking a pile wrapping project on a portion of the steel pilings to help protect the popular landmark from corrosion.
At this time the Pier remains open to the public., though short-term closures may be needed for safety purposes. Most of the work will be done from the water. Community members may notice divers at the site, in addition to other workers, and some noise from equipment. Please do not fish or place any crab traps from the Pier in the active work zones or as directed by the site contractor.
The Pier remediation work is being funded by Canada Community Building Fund contributions. Most of the work is estimated to be completed by mid-February.
