The Town’s Water Division is responsible for distribution of potable water to 11,500 customers as well as commercial and industry customers.
Background Information
Town staff maintain 55 km of water mains with 4,500 water meters and 281 fire hydrants. Routine maintenance includes water main flushing (cleaning), valve operating, fire hydrant preventive maintenance, air valve repair and connection installation.
The Town receives water from the Capital Regional District (CRD) trunk distribution system from Sooke Lake. The Water Division ensures that the Town’s water distribution system is maintained to Provincial standards to provide clean and safe drinking water.

The CRD sets water restrictions for our region. Stage 1 Watering Schedule is in effect May 1 through September 30 every year, unless more stringent water conservation measures are required. More information can be found on the CRD’s website
